So much to see and do

The area is buzzing with redevelopment

Welcome to beautiful Lowestoft, the most easterly point in the UK and therefore the first town to welcome in the new day.

Just 28 miles from Norwich and 38 miles from Ipswich, it is also on the edge of the Norfolk Boards which can be accessed via Oulton Broad in Lowestoft. It really is a terrific location to explore the area from.

Lowestoft has the most spectacular wide sandy beach with beach huts for hire.

A full guest directory of things to do locally and further afield is available in our online guest guidebook accessible from a QR code upon check in.

The Scores & Maritime Museum

This series of narrow lanes has been created over the years by people forming paths in the cliff as they travelled between the historic High Street and the old Beach Village. Originally there were 14, but 2 have now disappeared.

Every year in September, hoards of runners assemble in the historic high street for the annual Scores Race. The 4.75 mile race runs up and down the historic scores, with a total of 401 steps and passageways!

Whilst here, you can also enjoy a walk through the Sparrows Nest Gardens and check out the Lowestoft Maritime Museum (open seasonally) to learn about the town's long history with the sea.

Lowestoft & Pakefield Beach

Just a short walk from the hotel, Pakefield and Lowestoft beaches offer a serene environment with its expansive sandy shores and picturesque views of the North Sea. It's an ideal location for leisurely walks, picnics, and enjoying coastal scenery.  Beach huts are available for hire either traditional or the new modern type

Oulton Broad

The start of the Norfolk Broads and just a ten minute drive from the hotel. Oulton Broad has several restaurants and pubs with terrific views, a sailing club and a play park for children. Gorgeous on a sunny day. Explore the river yourself by taking out a self drive boat from Oulton Dayboats.

Nicholas Everitt Park nearby is a great hub for watersports, and hosts many competitions.

The First Light Festival

On midsummer solstice weekend in June the town hosts the First Light Festival down on the gorgeous South Beach. This is a free entry arts and science festival and has become quite a feature of the town’s calendar. It features music, dance, theatre, and various performances from around the world.
